"Come party Hoffstyle"

It was only a matter of time before an announcement that David Hasselhoff himself would make it onto the Empire stage - and it would have been fair to assume we'd be talking panto. But no! Turns out The Hoff has signed up for a new jukebox musical of eighties and nineties hits called (deep breath, you can do this) Last Night a DJ Saved My Life.Hasselhoff plays Ross, a "hilarious hedonist", according to the blurb. "He’s Ibiza’s top 80s DJ who doesn’t realise a new decade has dawned, disco is out, the club scene is in. Think Mamma Mia on speed! Friends meets Ibiza Uncovered, with the soundtrack of our lives." Good God.In a case of art somewhat imitating life, Ross tries to keep up with the times with Mandy, his new younger girlfriend (Hollyoaks/ The Bill actress Kim Tiddy), but matters are complicated when his teenage daughter Penny (Stephanie Webber from The Voice) arrives to stay. Father and daughter haven’t seen each other for three years, since a messy divorce. No longer a demure school girl but a wild child, she quickly falls for Rik, the holiday rep (Shane Richie Jnr).Speaking about the new role The Hoff said: “See it. Believe it. Live it. This is my motto and I am living it now. I can’t wait to bring something new and different to UK theatre audiences. I absolutely love live theatre and the interaction with the audience. To play a character that I can relate to while celebrating an era of fantastic music is going to be Hofftastic. Come party Hoffstyle!”Handbag vodka at the ready folks, the show, which also promises a "foam-filled finale megamix", comes to the Empire in January.
